The Medieval town of Marciana sits at a height of 375 meters above sea level, with chestnut-trees that are centuries old all around, and here tourists can visit its Archaeological Etruscan-Roman sea level as well as its ancient "Pisan Fortress".
A cableway takes you up to the top of Mount Capanne, from where the view is breathtaking. The ancient Via Crucis, that starts off at the Pisan Fortress, takes you up to to the truly ancient "Sanctuary of the Madonna del Monte", where Napoleon loved to stay during his exile so he could keep a constant eye on the naval movements around the island.
